Parent Welcome Letter/About Mrs. St. Louis
Dear Kindergarten Parents,
I wanted to welcome you to the Red Rocks Family, introduce myself, and let you know how excited I am to be your child’s teacher this year!
As we begin a year of “firsts” together, I often think of my own Kindergarten teacher, Miss Vandervere, who was generous with hugs and would occasionally stop everyone in class, shouting, “Get up and dance!” It is never far from my mind that the moments shared with students might just be something they always remember too.
This year, children will not only work hard and think deeply, but have the opportunity to learn about our community and the world, whether it’s exploring our school’s nature trails, participating in Purposeful Play or creating passion projects for Genius Hour. Of course, this will also be a year of HUGE growth! Beyond losing teeth, growing taller and gaining independence, children will grow socially, emotionally and academically.
A bit about me: Red Rocks Elementary, the Town of Morrison and education are all close to my heart. Not only am I a teacher at Red Rocks, but a parent and community member. My daughter Lucy is in 4th grade and my daughter Sky is in 2nd. My husband Tom is a high school counselor.
This is my ninth year teaching and my third at Red Rocks. Over the years I have been lucky to work with many grades, from Primary to Intermediate, including a Gifted and Talented classroom. I have a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Literacy. Basically, I LOVE to learn and one of my goals is finding ways for every student share that passion.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy being outdoors, including camping and 4-wheeling with my family and trail running (up Red Rocks and Falcon Park, of course)!
Kindergarten is the foundation for a lifetime of learning, and I hope that together we can create a successful start for your child. I am thrilled to be among the amazing teachers and staff at Red Rocks Elementary and look forward to collaborating with you.
Warmly,
Leslie St. Louis
